Privacy
Short version: this website doesn't track you, and the apps keep your data on your computer.
The short version
- No analytics service, no tracking pixels and no tracking cookies on this website. The one cookie it sets is a technical one, for the bug report form.
- No fonts, scripts or anything else loaded from other servers.
- Your music, your financial data and your files never leave your computer.
- The apps' update and news checks send only what's needed to answer them.
This website
This website complies with the EU's privacy rules: an impressive pile of regulation that, sadly, protects your privacy far less than it promises.
No analytics service is involved.
There is no third-party content. Fonts, images and scripts all come from this server.
The support page sets one cookie. It's purely technical: it protects the bug report form against submissions forged by other websites. It holds no personal data, isn't used for analytics or anything else, and is deleted when you close your browser.
The apps
LocalSound and LocalMoney work entirely on your computer. Your library, your accounts and your settings are files on your disk, and they stay there.
When an app checks for updates, it sends the technical information needed to answer that query.
About once a month, the apps also ask this website whether there's a message for them: news, or a note about a problem you should know about. That question doesn't say which installation is asking, and it isn't counted. You can switch news off in the app.
Online features
A few LocalSound features talk to other services:
- Internet radio asks Radio Browser, a public station directory, for stations and plays the streams from the stations themselves.
- Tag and cover lookup asks the MusicBrainz database and the Cover Art Archive about the track you're looking up.
- Automatic covers: when a track without a cover starts playing, LocalSound asks MusicBrainz for its album, by the album's MusicBrainz ID or by album and artist name, and downloads the cover from the Cover Art Archive. This one is on from the start; switch it off in the settings.
- "Search on YouTube" opens YouTube in your browser with the track's name.
Apart from the automatic covers, they only run when you use them. Those services have their own privacy policies.
LocalMoney talks to no service other than this website.
Bug report form
When you send a bug report, I receive what you entered. I use it to understand and fix the problem and, if you left an email address, to answer you. Nothing else. It's deleted once it's no longer needed.
ArchaicTribe
The ArchaicTribe doesn't exist yet, and how you'll join it isn't decided. Once it is, this section will say which data joining involves and how long it's kept.
Your rights
You can ask what I store about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to the data protection authority. Since I store next to nothing, this is usually a short conversation.
